Creation-Anastasius I

Greek
State of Preservation:
Partial
Genre:
  • Form (excerpt collection)
  • Chronicle (general)
  • Secular history (chronological history)
Remarks:
The title of the work suggests an excerpt collection based on a variety of works, but the extant part reads like a continuous history and not an excerpt collection. The title suggests that the work ran until Anastasius I, which is three centuries earlier than the date of the author. This renders it possible that one of the sources used was a sixth-century work.  The general view is that we are dealing with an work based on Malalas, but some have suggested an independent work (Scott 1990: 45).
In its preserved state the excerpt collection breaks off ca. 776 B.C.
