In his preface Michael the Great quotes Gourya as a source for the period 610-641. Langlois identifies Gourya with Cyrus of Batna, author of a chronicle until 582 (Langlois 1868: 3). Debié (Debié 2015: 380-381) follows this hypothesis whilst discussing the problem that the works of Gourya and Cyrus covered different time periods (see Cyrus of Batna).
