The work is used by Elias of Nisibis as witness for the chronological equivalence between the Hegira and the era of the Greeks. The chronology is frequently used for the period between 1 H. (622/623) and 90 H. (708/709). Afterwards, the chronology is not used until 317 H. (929/930) when it is cited once again. The resort to this work for the year 317 H. seems due to the need to fill a gap between the previous sources (Muhammad Ibn Yahya, that is, Ibn Bajja) and the following ones (Sinan ibn Thabit).
