Remarks:
According to Eunapius, Cyllenius' work dealt with a campaign κατὰ Ναρδινῶν (FGrHist 222 T 1): since we do not know of a people called this way, Eunapius' text is almost certainly corrupt. Different emendations have been proposed: Ἀλαμανῶν (Bekker 1829: 66), Χνοδομαρίου (Thompson 1943: 70), Ναρνισκῶν, (Müller 1851: 20), Δαρδάνων (Blockley 1981: 213-214). According to the first three corrections, Cyllenius described Julian's campaigns against the Germans (356-361); the last one is linked to Julian's journey down the Danube (361).
