Remarks:
The Greek Agathangelus is based on the Armenian version written probably during the second half of the fifth century. The Laurentianus VII,25 (twelfth century) is the only Greek manuscript that contains a summary of the Armenian prologue and that includes a long passage about Ardashir’s rebellion against Artabanus between the Prologue and the acts of Tiridates. This episode does not appear in the Armenian Agathangelus and has been inspired by the Karnamag (Book of the Lords). All manuscripts of the Greek Agathangelus omit the long passage about the Teaching of Saint Gregory (Armenian Agathangelus 259-715). For the later reworkings, see Thomson (1976).
