Remarks:
According to Maksoudian (1980: 27), the division into chapters is not original but due to a later editor, as not all the manuscripts contain such divisions. The extent and some discrepancies of John’s work suggest that John wrote his History at different times and places (cf. Maksoudian 1980: 30). There is no critical edition. A exhaustive list of manuscripts is given by Maksoudian (1987: 53-57).
