Remarks:
Jacoby (FGrHist 279 T1a) considered the work of Posidonius a speech pronounced by the sophist in front of the emperor while being sent as a delegate of his city. As Costa (BNJ 279) notes, this hypothesis cannot be verified. The adjective Τυρική is a hapax: it refers either to the river Tyras, or to the homonymous Milesian colony at its mouth.
