The author is mentioned in the preface of Michael the Great's Chronicle preserved only in two Armenian versions. He is probably to be identified with Saliba of Qariqara (a village in the province of Melitene), who composed a treatise on the capture of Edessa by the Seljuks (1144 A.D.) according to Bar Ebroyo (Abbeloos-Lamy 1872: 501)
