Consularia Caesaraugustana

Title(s):
  • Consularia Caesaraugustana
Period covered:
450-568
Language:
Latin
State of Preservation:
Fragmentary
Genre:
  • Chronicle (consularia)
Remarks:
The consularia only survive added to the margins of a manuscript of Victor of Tunnuna and John of Biclar (Madriad, Escorial, & IV.23; they are also attested in a now lost manuscript from Segorbe: Villanueva 1804: iii.197-220). They may originally have covered a larger span of time. It is the last attested example of the genre of consularia. The work has been ascribed to Maximus of Zaragoza, for example by Mommsen (1894). There is no evidence to support the attribution.
