Remarks:
The relation between the Περὶ τῆς Ῥωμαίων ἀνανεώσεως and the three fragments εἰς τὰ Πάτρια Ῥώμης is not clear (cf. BNJ 281 F1): according to Amato - Ventrella (2009: 155 n. 502), the fragments most likely come from the work listed by the Suda; Allacci (1641: 256), Orelli (1816: 197-198) and Janiszewski (2006: 214), on the other hand, separate the two texts.
Janiszewski (2006: 213) suggests that the work was addressed to the emperor Aurelian, who presented himself as the restitutor orbis, but as Kaldellis (BNJ 281 T1a) rightly points out, 'this is only a guess'.
