Remarks:
Photius (Bibliotheca 115) read a treatise by Metrodorus calculating the Easter date for 532 years from Diocletian onwards. This is probably the same author as the one named as writer of a chronicle by Jacob of Edessa. An option is to identify Metrodorus with the philosopher mentioned in Rufinus, Ecclesiastical history 10.9 and Cedrenus, Chronicle i.516.16-23. In favour of this earlier date pleads the fact that Jacob of Edessa cites Metrodorus in a list of authors dating to the early fifth century at the latest.
