Remarks:
Shortly after the death of Gregory, a reworked version of the first six books started to circulate. Another reworked version in ten books circulated during the Carolingian period. As Reimitz (2015: 52-65) shows, Gregory of Tours structures his account so as to encourage the reader to identify with Christianity rather than with the Franks. In generic terms, the History shows up contacts with all major genres (sacred history, chronicle, ecclesiastical history, and secular history).
