Remarks:
Evagrius is the only source quoting the work of Nicostratus: he does not mention any title. According to BNJ 98, it is likely that the history of Nicostratus was focused on the perceived decline of the Roman Empire and the conquest of Ctesiphon by Odenatus (263) constituted the end of the work. Such an interpretation is tempting, even if there is no textual base for it.
