Remarks:
According to Pirone's translation, Agapius of Mabbug quotes a passage of Yahya ibn Adi’s Kitāb al-ta’rīkh where Yahya in turn quotes a certain Qusṭanṭūs with regard to the years of reign of Adam and Seth (Pirone 2013: 296: 'Yaḥyà Ibn 'Adī, il Grammatico, nel suo Kitāb al-ta'rīkh da lui composto nell'eremo racconta: Qusṭanṭūs comincia con il dire "Adamo governò il mondo 230 anni; Set governò il mondo 205 anni…"'). In Vasiliev's version, however, the name Qusṭanṭūs is interpreted as a reference to the content (or the extent) of Yahya's work (Vasiliev 1911: 562: 'Jachya, fils d'Adiya, le grammairien, dit dans sa chronique qu'il a faite sur ... de Constant (?); il commence et il dit: Adam gouverna le monde pendant 230 ans; Seth gouverna le monde pendant 205 ans'). Both scholars say that the passage is of uncertain reading, therefore none of these two hypothetical reconstructions is likelier than the other. The work could have been written in Greek or Syriac, if it existed. See also John, son of Adi.
