In the Patria of Constantinople Eutychianus Protoasecretes appears in a list of authors who have written on the foundation of Constantinople. Although the trustworthiness of the Patria is generally doubted, the existence of such a work is possible. Jeffreys (1990: 181) argues that Eutychianus of Cappadocia and Eutychianus Protoasecretes are to be distinguished. Janizewski (2006: 271) argues for identification.
