Remarks:
The work, found in class IV manuscripts of Fredegar, was orginally understood as a continuation of Fredegar, but Collins (2007) argues that it is an independent work, including parts of Fredegar. It was reworked by another author after 768. According to Collins, the work was commissioned by count Childebrand, the brother of Charles Martel. Reimitz (2015), 296-297 identifies Childebrand and Nibelung as the authors of the chronicle.
