Remarks:
The work is to be reconstructed from a number of sources: Sozomen, Theodoret (Van Nuffelen 2002), parts of the Codex Veronensis LX (58), including the Historia acephala (Martin and Albert 1985), a late life of Peter of Alexandria (BHL 6692-6693), a fragment of Timothy Aelurus (Camplani 2011), an Ethiopian life of Peter (Getatchew 1980), and an Ethiopian manuscript (Camplani and Bausi 2013, Bausi and Camplani 2016). There is debate as to the nature of the text: Van Nuffelen (2002) argues for a collection of documents, Camplani and Bausi (2013) consider it to be a Church history.
