Chronicle

Title(s):
  • Chronicle
Period covered:
Creation-963
Language:
Greek
State of Preservation:
Full
Genre:
  • Chronicle (chronica)
  • Secular history (breviarium)
Remarks:
The text was erroneously ascribed to Symeon the Logothete because, in the only manuscript that preserves it, it follows the first thirty chapters of Symeon's chronicle with no indication of either the author's name or the title. The chronicle is largely based on Symeon's work but differs remarkably from it, including other sources as well. So far only partial editions of the text have appeared.
