Remarks:
Elias of Nisibis quotes this otherwise unknown Aaron, just once, under the year 273 of the Hegira/1197 of the Greeks (namely 884/885), with regard to the death of the Byzantine Emperor Basil I (811-886). The name is followed by an illegible epithet, which according to Brooks starts with 'bar' ('son of').
The passage appears in the section of the chronicle where Elias uses mostly Arabic sources, but according to Baethgen (1884: 3), the form of the name suggests that he was a Syriac author.
