Anastasius Bibliothecarius translated for John the Deacon excerpts from Georgius Syncellus, Theophanes Confessor and Nicephorus (see Anastasius Bibliothecarius, Historia tripartita), as well as a dossier on the monothelite controversy (Anastasius Bibliothecarius, Collectanea). The history of John never saw the light of day.
