Chronicle

Title(s):
  • Chronicle
Period covered:
Adam-author's time
Language:
Greek
State of Preservation:
Fragmentary
Genre:
  • Chronicle (general)
Remarks:
Theophilus is only known via John Malalas. The author is often identified with Theophilus of Antioch, but none of the references matches his work. We are thus dealing with another Theophilus. The fragments suggest an Alexandrian origin and John Malalas 18.8 could imply a fifth-century date for Theophilus.
