Remarks:
Laqueur (1934: 1131-1132) suggests that the works of Teucer were inspired by the expedition of Pompey the Great to the East; Stern (1974: 165) rejects such an idea.
According to Wilamowitz-Moellendorff (1886: 122, n. 12), the Jewish history dealt with the great revolt of Jews against Rome (60-70 A.D.). This contextualization has not been followed by other scholars: indeed, the majority of them thinks that the work of Teucer referred to (or, at least, was mainly motivated by) the Jewish war of Pompey the Great (63 B.C.).
