Remarks:
Bauer (1905: 15-20) had at first identified the text with the Short chronology traditionally ascribed to Nicephorus, but later on (1909b: iii-iv) he affirmed that Nicephorus must rather have been one of the Anonymous of Madrid's sources, beside George Syncellus and Theophanes (1909b: vii, x, xi).
