Title(s):
  • Chronicle
  • History of Persia
Period covered:
Mythical past; history of Persia?
Language:
Greek
State of Preservation:
Fragmentary
Genre:
  • Chronicle (general)
  • Secular history (general)
Remarks:
It is impossible to identify or date this author. It should be noticed, however, that from Syriac sources we gather a range of names of chroniclers who supposedly wrote from a national tradition (Jewish, Zoroastrian, Chaldaean: see the entries on Damaris, Zamardos and Qombaros). Even if these authors are fictional, they represent a tendency in chronography to draw (at least in pretence) on sources from beyond one's own tradition.
