Remarks:
Averil Cameron and Judith Herrin suggest that the name Herodotus should be emended to Herodian, an oral source that appears in Parastaseis 61. They consider also the possibility that Herodotus was a source invented by the Parastaseis (Cameron and Herrin 1984: 42, 180). In a passage drawn from Parastaseis, George the Monk calls him Herodes, probably a scribal error (Cameron 1984: 42; Patzig 1897: 332-333).
