About the Comans

We follow the hypothesis of Barsaum (2003: 431), according to whom Basil composed a historical treatise about the defeat of the Comans at the hands of the emperor John II in Constantinople, which has to be distinguished from Basil's Chronicle. No evidence exists, however, to prove that the information Michael the Great uses for his work is not taken from the Chronicle.
