  • List (rulers)
Remarks:
Elias of Nisibis first quotes the List of kings of Theon of Alexandria with reference to the accession to the throne of Marcus Aurelius (161); the last mention refers to Constantine the Great's first year of reign (306). The list may have run until Theon's own age. It was probably an update of a list drawn up by Ptolemy, which would explain why the references start with Marcus Aurelius. Its purpose was to accompany astronomical calculations. It was part of Theon's revision of Ptolemy's Handy Tables, but the references in Elias may suggest a separate circulation.
