Remarks:
According to Croke (1990: 33), Heliconius covered history until the reign of Theodosius II and was one of the models of John Malalas' Chronicle. As Janiszewski (2006: 414) shows, the former idea is clearly wrong (the Suda mentions the age of Theodosius τοῦ μεγάλου); the latter is not demonstrable, since Malalas never names this source. The fragments demonstrate a particular interest in the history of literature.
