Remarks:
The compilation is composite. The main core seems to date back to 818 (to which the title refers), but the list of Christian emperors ends with Basil I (867-886), during whose reign the text, as we understand it, was assembled.
Mai's edition is accompanied by a Latin translation. Schoene's edition is not based on a new inspection of the manuscript and contains some errors.
