This is a Latin translation of the reworked version of the chronicle attributed to Hippolytus. It has been suggested (Mommsen 1892: 154-155) that the work was composed by Hilarianus. That hypothesis has now been abandoned. In fact, various versions seem to have circulated, which can be dated to 359 and 365.
