Remarks:
The nature of the work is unclear. Long thought to be an epic poem (Asmus 1913: 328), the Suda underscores that is was in prose. It thus appears to be a history of Isauria or of the Isaurians who seized power in the Eastern Empire with Zeno. Both interpretations do not exclude one another.
