Remarks:
Alan Cameron identifies this Anastasius with the iconophile monk Anastasius who, according to chapter 63 of the Parastaseis syntomoi chronikai, was burned in the Hippodrome during the reign of Constantius V (741-775). He also argues that Anastasius authored iconophile writings including a florilegium upon which the Parastaseis drew (Al. Cameron 1976: 130; Av. Cameron & J. Herrin 1984: 24). Averil Cameron and J. Herrin doubt this identification (1984: 184), but it remains likely that Anastasius composed a miscellany upon which the Parastaseis syntomoi chronikai relied.
