Remarks:
The source of Malalas is usually identified with Clement of Alexandria, and the references are supposed to be drawn from the Stromateis or to be fictional. Clement of Alexandria is identified as a chronographer by Jacob of Edessa (Nau 1900: 590). This may be the result of a later contamination. It is more likely that we are dealing with a real work of chronography to be ascribed to another Clement. Michael the Great mentions a Clement regarding the rebuilding of the Temple.
