Dius, Aelius

Name(s):
  • Dius, Aelius (Αἴλιος Δῖος, Ailios Dios)
Date:
2nd?-4th c.
Confession:
  • Pagan?
Remarks:
It is possible that the texts collected in FGrHist 629 belong to two different writers: the author of the work On Alexandria (T1, F1) and a student of Harpokration, who wrote a commentary on the Iliad (T 2-3). Alternatively, D. Hoeschel identified the author with Aelius Dionysus, who composed an Attic lexicon (Δίου > Διονύσου) but his suggestion has not been followed.
